Aunt Pearl's Sesame Seed Cookies (Giuggiulena) image

These are great for tea or coffee. They are meant to have a drier, harder texture, perfect for dunking.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 c all purpose flour
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 c sugar
1 c vegetable shortening
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c whole milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 c white sesame seeds (amount approximated)

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheets with parchment.
  • 2. Mix everything *except sesame seeds*.
  • 3. Roll into small balls. Roll balls in sesame seeds and then roll balls into finger size.
  • 4. Bake for about 20-25 minutes. Watch carefully so the bottoms don't burn.
