Bacon Wrapped Water Chestnuts image

My mother used to make these and keep them warm on a warming tray (the kind you plug into the wall) for appetizers. These are really easy and my dh loved these simple appetizers -- plus they can be considered emergency appetizers too as it's easy to have the three ingredients (bacon, a can of water chestnuts and brown sugar) needed to make these on hand all the time.

Yield 24 appetizers

Number Of Ingredients 3

24 water chestnuts (1 small can, drained)
2 tablespoons brown sugar
8 pieces bacon, cut into thirds (24 pieces of bacon)

Steps:

  • Combine water chestnuts with sugar.
  • Wrap bacon piece around water chestnuts attaching with a toothpick; repeat for all remaining bacon and water chestnuts. ***You can do this hours ahead and refrigerated.

These were a bit too salty for my taste. I think I'll try them again with less bacon.

These were a nice change from the usual bacon-wrapped appetizers. I'll definitely be making them again.

Not bad, but not great either. I think I'll stick to my regular bacon-wrapped shrimp.

I've made these several times now, and they're always a hit. I like to add a little bit of cayenne pepper to the glaze for a bit of a kick.

Not a fan. The water chestnuts were too crunchy for my liking, and the bacon was a bit too salty. I think I'll stick to my regular bacon-wrapped dates.

These were super easy to make and turned out great! I used a combination of brown sugar and maple syrup for the glaze, and they came out perfectly caramelized. Definitely a keeper recipe.

Absolutely divine! The bacon-wrapped water chestnuts were a hit at my party. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a sweet and savory flavor. I'll definitely be making these again!
