I love these. I used to have a recipe for Soft Ginger Snaps and this is pretty close to those.

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 1/4 c all purpose flour
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt
3/4 c butter or margarine, softened
1 c white sugar
1 egg
1 Tbsp water
1/4 c molasses
2 Tbsp white sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Sift together the flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  • 2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1 cup sugar until light and fluffy. Beat the egg, and stir into the water and molasses. Gradually stir the sifted ingredients into the molasses mixture. Shape dough into walnut size balls, and roll them into the remaining 2 tablespoons of sugar. Place the cookies 2 inches apart onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and flatten slightly.
  • 3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Store in an air tight container.

I'm not a big fan of ginger cookies, but these were actually really good. They were soft and chewy, with just the right amount of spice.

These cookies were a disappointment. They were dry and crumbly, and the ginger flavor was overpowering. I followed the recipe exactly, so I'm not sure what went wrong.

These cookies are amazing! So easy to make and they taste like they came from a bakery. I love the big, soft texture and the delicious ginger flavor. I'll be making these cookies again and again.

I've tried a lot of ginger cookie recipes, but this one is by far the best. The cookies are soft and moist, with a perfect balance of spices. I also love the way they spread out in the oven, creating those classic chewy edges.

These cookies were a total hit! They were so soft and chewy, with the perfect amount of ginger flavor. I loved the crispy edges and the chewy centers. I will definitely be making these again.
