AMERICA'S BEST BARBEQUE RUB

America's Best Barbeque Rub image

After traveling all over America looking for the best BBQ recipe, we found one on a golf course in Twin Falls, Idaho. I hope you enjoy it as much as our family does. This rub is best on any meat that goes on a charcoal grill. The rub should be applied a day in advance for large cuts and a few hours in advance for smaller cuts. Store the rub in a airtight jar away from heat or light. It will keep for six months. This is especially good using some smoking chips on top of the charcoal. Just soak the chips in water and then put them in foil on top of the coals.

ALL-AMERICAN BARBECUE SAUCE

All-American Barbecue Sauce image

I'm very excited to show you my take on America's most popular style of barbecue sauce--which of course originated in and around Kansas City. After you make a batch of this and taste just how incredible it is, I don't think you'll ever buy that stuff from the store again. Sauce may be used right away, but for best results, wrap and refrigerate for a day or two before using to allow the flavors to develop.

ALL-PURPOSE CALIFORNIA BEEF RUB

All-Purpose California Beef Rub image

A good rub makes grilling or roasting easy. This one combines the best of the salt-pepper-garlic notes of Santa Maria-style barbecue with the depth of coffee and clove. Diners will be hard-pressed to place its complex flavor until you tell them the components. The rub is easy to double and keeps for a long time in a jar or a zipper-lock bag. It should stay on the meat for at least two hours, but overnight is best.

Tips:

  • Use a variety of spices. The best rubs combine a mix of sweet, savory, spicy, and smoky flavors. Experiment with different spices to find a combination that you like.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment. There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to making a rub. Feel free to adjust the ingredients and proportions to suit your taste.
  • Use fresh ingredients. Fresh spices and herbs will give your rub the best flavor. If possible, use organic ingredients.
  • Toast your spices. Toasting spices before using them will bring out their flavor and aroma. You can toast spices in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes, or you can toast them in the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Use a binder. A binder will help the rub adhere to the meat. Common binders include oil, mustard, and mayonnaise.
  • Apply the rub evenly. When applying the rub, make sure to coat the meat evenly. You can do this by using your hands or a brush.
  • Let the rub sit. After applying the rub, let it sit on the meat for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight. This will give the rub time to penetrate the meat and develop its flavor.

Conclusion:

Creating a flavorful and delicious rub is an art form that takes practice and experimentation. By following these tips, you can create rubs that will enhance the flavor of your favorite meats and make them truly unforgettable. So get creative in the kitchen and start experimenting with different spices and ingredients. You might just surprise yourself with how delicious your next meal can be!
