1-1/4 cups sugar, divided
1 cup canola oil
1 cup white wine or dry red wine
2 teaspoons aniseed, crushed
Dash salt
4 to 4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, whisk 1 cup sugar, oil, wine, aniseed and salt until blended. Gradually stir in enough flour to form a soft dough. Cover; let rest 1 hour., Preheat oven to 350°. Shape level tablespoons of dough into 6-in. ropes. Shape each into a ring, pinching ends together to seal. Dip tops of cookies into remaining sugar. 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup light brown sugar
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, at room temperature
2 tablespoons lemon zest
2 tablespoons lime zest
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups white chocolate chips, preferably Ghirardelli

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line two rimmed baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Add the flour, baking soda and salt to a medium bowl and whisk to combine. Set aside.
  • Add the butter and sugars to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment.
