CHEATER PANCAKE SYRUP

Cheater Pancake Syrup image

This was the syrup I grew up with. It tastes fabulous without all the extra work on getting real tapped maple syrup. It's also a cheaper way to have syrup, as these are things I always have in my cupboard.

ANITA'S CHEATER BEANS RECIPE - (5/5)

Anita's Cheater Beans Recipe - (5/5) image

Provided by kancook2

Number Of Ingredients 8

4 strips bacon, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/4 medium onion, finely diced
Two 27-ounce cans pinto beans
2 serrano peppers, scored
1 medium tomato, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper
1/4 bunch fresh cilantro (don't use the stems and don't chop, just snip or pinch off the leaves)

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, fry the bacon over medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes. Then add the onions and cook until the bacon is cooked but not crisp and the onions are translucent, another couple of minutes. Do not drain the bacon grease because it gives the beans a good taste. Add the beans, peppers, tomatoes, garlic and 1 1/2 cups water, and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. Add some salt and pepper and the cilantro and remove from the heat.

Tips:

  • Use dried beans for better texture and flavor. Soaking the beans overnight or for at least 8 hours helps reduce cooking time and makes them easier to digest.
  • If you don't have time to soak the beans, you can use canned beans instead. Just be sure to rinse them well before using.
  • Add aromatics like onion, garlic, celery, and carrots to the pot while cooking the beans. This will add flavor and depth to the dish.
  • Season the beans with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices to taste. You can also add a bit of heat with chili powder or cayenne pepper.
  • Serve the beans over rice, with cornbread, or as a side dish.

Conclusion:

Anita's Cheater Beans is a quick and easy way to make delicious beans at home. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can have a pot of flavorful beans that are perfect for any occasion. Whether you serve them as a main course or a side dish, these beans are sure to be a hit. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give Anita's Cheater Beans a try.
