Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups sugar
1 cup oil
3 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3 cups apples, chopped
1 cup nuts, chopped
1 cup butterscotch chips

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, oil, eggs and vanilla in large bowl.
  • Mix in flour, baking powder, soda, salt and cinnamon and mix well. Stir in apples and nuts.
  • Spread in a lightly greased 13"x9" pan; sprinkle with butterscotch chips.
  • Bake at 350 degrees 40-45 minutes.
  • Makes about 3 dozen depending upon how big you cut them.

Tips:

  • To make the butterscotch sauce, use light brown sugar instead of granulated sugar. This will give the sauce a richer, more caramel-like flavor.
  • If you don't have any vanilla extract, you can use 1 teaspoon of vanilla bean paste instead.
  • To make sure the bars are cooked through, insert a toothpick into the center. If it comes out clean, the bars are done.
  • Let the bars cool completely before cutting them into squares. This will help prevent them from crumbling.
  • Store the bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the bars for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:

Apple butterscotch bars are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert. They're perfect for a potluck or bake sale, or simply for enjoying at home with your family and friends. With their sweet and tangy flavor, these bars are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
