NATURAL APPLE CINNAMON OATS DOGGY TREATS

Natural Apple Cinnamon Oats Doggy Treats image

Here's an easy, safe, natural and healthy treat that dogs drool over! Makes their breath smelling fresh too-- what more can a pawrent ask for? I found this recipe somewhere on the web and altered it a bit to make it more natural and healthier for our furry friends. The original recipe called for 5 cups of flour and regular powdered milk. I instead used non-fat powdered milk and used just 2 3/4 Unbleached flour and 2 1/2 cups oat flour. You can make your own oat flour by grinding oatmeal using a food processor or even a coffee grinder would do. I or should I say, my dog Coco gave them as gifts to her doggy friends this Christmas. They were well received and consumed in no time... by the dogs and their humans too! We have lots of doggy friends and this recipe yields a lot so this was VERY economical.

  • Let it cool and serve with TLC.

Categories     Other Breakfast

Time 28m

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 Tbsp butter
1 c steel cut oats
3-1/2 c water
1 large apple, peeled, cored, diced
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 c raisins

Steps:

  • 1. Get all your ingredients together and measure everything out before starting.
  • 2. Set instant pot to SAUTE. Add butter and when melted add oats. Stir continuously for about 3 minutes until oats darken and begin to smell nutty.
  • 3. Add water, apples, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, and raisins. Stir to mix ingredients.
  • 4. Press CANCEL, secure the Instant Pot lid, press MANUAL, and set pressure time for 10 minutes.
  • 5. When pressure time is complete, let the cooker go into KEEP WARM mode and count 10 minutes. Then press CANCEL and twist the steam release handle on the lid to VENTING position.
  • 6. When valve drops carefully remove the lid and stir the oats. Let this sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until oats are the thickness you want.
  • 7. Put a serving in your bowl. Now add milk, yogurt, nuts, honey, more brown sugar, or other additions you might want. Enjoy!
  • 8. Put what you don't eat in a closed container and keep in the refrigerator. Just put what you want in a bowl with desired additions and heat in the microwave.

Tips:

  • For a creamier oatmeal, use whole milk or almond milk instead of water.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the oatmeal while it's cooking to help balance the sweetness of the apples and cinnamon.
  • If you don't have rolled oats, you can use quick oats or steel-cut oats instead. Just adjust the cooking time according to the package instructions.
  • Feel free to add other spices to your oatmeal, such as nutmeg, ginger, or cardamom.
  • Top your oatmeal with your favorite toppings, such as nuts, seeds, dried fruit, or yogurt.

Conclusion:

Apple cinnamon oatmeal is a delicious and healthy breakfast option that can be enjoyed all year round. It's easy to make and can be customized to your liking. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy breakfast, give apple cinnamon oatmeal a try.
