APPLE JACKS...uses Wonton Wrappers & Pie filling! image

Another recipe filed away in my apple folder.. It must be over 1 inch thick! The folder I mean.. not the Apple Jacks! LOL What does it matter. It is a delicious recipe I want to share with you. Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 - 21 oz. can apple pie filling
18-20 - wonton wrappers
1/2 cup(s) confectioners' sugar
- water and oil

Steps:

  • Cut pie filling apples into smaller pieces. Place 1 Tablespoon of filling in to the center of each wrapper. Moisten edges of wrappers with water. Fold diagonally. Press edges with a fork to seal. Heat oil to 35o degrees..fry until golden on both sides. Drain on paper towels. Sift conf. sugar on tops when cool. Makes 18-20
  • Be sure they are sealed tight, so the filling does not leak out when cooking. I like to add cinnamon to the apples, before filling. TIP: For cleanup, I find it is easier to put down folded newspapers under the paper towels. .

Tips:

  • Choose the right wonton wrappers. Thicker wrappers will hold up better to baking, while thinner wrappers will be more delicate and crispy. You can also use wonton wrappers made with different flours, such as whole wheat or gluten-free.
  • Use a variety of pie fillings. Apple is a classic, but you can also use other fruits, such as berries, peaches, or cherries. You can also use savory fillings, such as chicken, beef, or vegetables.
  • Be creative with your shapes. Wonton wrappers can be folded into a variety of shapes, such as triangles, squares, or even flowers. You can also use cookie cutters to create fun shapes.
  • Bake or fry your wonton pies. Baked wonton pies are a healthier option, while fried wonton pies are more crispy and indulgent. You can also air fry your wonton pies for a healthier option that is still crispy.
  • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. Wonton pies are delicious on their own, but they can also be served with a variety of dipping sauces, such as sweet and sour sauce, honey mustard, or ranch dressing.

Conclusion:

Wonton wrappers are a versatile ingredient that can be used to make a variety of delicious appetizers, snacks, and meals. They are easy to work with and can be filled with a variety of ingredients, making them a great option for busy weeknight meals. So next time you're looking for a fun and easy recipe, give wonton wrappers a try!
