CHEDDAR APPLE PIE DIP

Cheddar Apple Pie Dip image

I got this recipe in an email. I like to serve it with wheat crackers, homemade cinnamon tortilla crisps, mini caramel-flavored rice cakes & toasted brioche slices. I've also served this as little tarts using mini phyllo shells. VARIATION: Use fresh pears instead of apples.

1/4 c brown sugar, firmly packed
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 red delicious apple, finely chopped (about 1 cup)
1 macintosh or fuji apple, finely chopped (about 1 cup)
1/2 c walnuts or pecans, coarsely chopped
1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 c sour cream
crackers of your choice

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in medium bowl. Add the apples and walnuts; toss until evenly coated. Set aside.

  • 3. Bake for 20 minutes or until heated through. Serve with crackers.

Tips:

  • Use the right apples: Granny Smith apples are the best choice for apple pie dip because they hold their shape well and have a tart flavor that pairs well with the sweet filling.
  • Peel and core the apples: This will help to ensure that the apples cook evenly and that the dip has a smooth texture.
  • Cook the apples until they are tender: This will take about 10-15 minutes, depending on the type of apples you are using.
  • Add the sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg: These spices will give the dip a classic apple pie flavor.
  • Use a food processor or blender to puree the apples: This will help to create a smooth and creamy dip.
  • Add the whipped cream: This will make the dip light and fluffy.
  • Serve the dip chilled: This will help to firm it up and make it easier to scoop.

Conclusion:

Apple pie dip is a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is a great way to use up leftover apples, and it can be served with a variety of dippers, such as graham crackers, cookies, or fruit.
