CINNAMON RED HOT APPLE PIE

Cinnamon Red Hot Apple Pie image

Many years ago, a co-worker of mine used to go apple picking annually and would then bring some apples to me so I could make a pie for him. I got tired of making my same old apple pie and asked him if I could experiment a little bit. He agreed, and this is what I came up with. He was pleasantly surprised (and so was I).

1/3 cup honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
4 granny smith apples, peeled and thinly sliced

Tips:

  • Choose the right apples. For the best flavor and texture, use a variety of apples that are tart, sweet, and crisp. Some good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, and Braeburn.
  • Peel and slice the apples thinly. This will help them cook evenly and quickly.
  • Add some spices. A blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger is a classic choice for apple pie, but you can also add other spices like cardamom, allspice, or cloves.
  • Don't overcook the apples. They should be tender but still hold their shape.
  • Use a good quality pie crust. You can either make your own or buy a pre-made crust from the store.
  • Be careful not to overfill the pie. You should have about 1 inch of space between the filling and the top of the crust.
  • Bake the pie at a high temperature for the first 15 minutes. This will help to create a golden brown crust.
  • Reduce the temperature and continue baking until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown. This will usually take about 45 minutes.
  • Let the pie cool for at least 1 hour before serving. This will allow the filling to set and the flavors to meld.

Conclusion:

Apple pie is a classic American dessert that is perfect for any occasion. With its sweet and tart filling and flaky crust, it's sure to be a hit with everyone. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy-to-make dessert, give this recipe a try!
