APPLE SPICE MUFFINS

Apple Spice Muffins image

Think of crème fraîche as sour cream's richer, thicker, less-sour sibling. In this healthy muffin recipe, it's the secret ingredient that gives these muffins a light texture and rich flavor. The batter is made with extra spices and tons of sweet fruit, which means you won't notice the minimal amount of white sugar.

LOW-FAT APPLE SPICE MUFFINS

Low-Fat Apple Spice Muffins image

What I like the most about these muffins is that the spices make the muffin what it is. The raw cane sugar and whole wheat pastry flour are the best to use because they are the least processed ingredients available and retain more of their natural goodness. The chunky apple bits give me more for my bite and add another level of sweetness to the muffin. These make a great breakfast or brunch item, or you can have one with a cup of coffee and unwind! Enjoy!

Tips

  • Choose the right apples: For the best flavor and texture, use a combination of tart and sweet apples, such as granny smith, honeycrisp, or braeburn.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixed batter will result in tough, dense muffins. Mix the batter only until the dry ingredients are moistened.
  • Don't overfill the muffin cups: Fill the muffin cups no more than 2/3 full. Overfilling will result in muffins that rise too high and spill over.
  • Bake the muffins at a high temperature: This will help the muffins rise quickly and develop a golden brown crust.
  • Cool the muffins completely before serving: This will help the muffins set and firm up.

Conclusion

Apple Spice High-Rise Muffins are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With their moist, fluffy texture, sweet and tangy apple flavor, and perfectly spiced crumble topping, these muffins are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
