Canned artichokes add subtlety and flavor to this meal. We like the Whole Foods 365 brand because the artichokes don't come out too salty when roasted.

ARTICHOKE-PROSCIUTTO GRATIN

Artichoke-Prosciutto Gratin image

Serve with a crusty bread. You could also chop up the artichokes and prosciutto before baking and serve as a bruschetta or dip. Some folks substitute 1/4 cup blue for 1/4 cup of the cream cheese. Rich! Decadent! Yum! Courtesy epicurious.com.

Tips:

  • Use fresh artichokes. Fresh artichokes have a sweeter, more delicate flavor than canned or frozen artichokes. If you can't find fresh artichokes, you can substitute canned or frozen artichokes, but be sure to drain and rinse them well before using.
  • Trim the artichokes properly. To trim the artichokes, remove the outer leaves until you reach the pale green leaves. Then, cut off the top 1/4 of the artichoke. Finally, use a spoon to scoop out the fuzzy choke from the center of the artichoke.
  • Cook the artichokes until they are tender. Artichokes should be cooked until they are tender, but not mushy. You can cook them in boiling water, steaming them, or roasting them in the oven.
  • Use a variety of herbs and spices. Fennel, thyme, and rosemary are all great herbs to use in artichoke fennel sauce. You can also add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little spice.
  • Serve the sauce immediately. Artichoke fennel sauce is best served immediately after it is made. It can be served over pasta, chicken, or fish.

Conclusion:

Artichoke fennel sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used in a variety of dishes. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a new sauce to try, give artichoke fennel sauce a try. You won't be disappointed!
