Steps:
- 1. In a microwaveable covered dish combine the rice, oil, salt, and water. Microwave on high for 10-12 minutes. Fluff up rice after cooking 6 minutes. Fluff up again at the end of the cooking time. Taste test rice, it should be "just under done". Not mushy.
- 2. Toss in asparagus and butter. Cover and let the asparagus steam for 2-3 minutes.
- 3. Squeeze on lime or lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste, toss and serve.
Tips:
- To ensure the best flavor and texture, use fresh, high-quality asparagus. Look for spears that are bright green and have tightly closed tips. Avoid any asparagus that is limp or has brown spots. - If you don't have a pan with a steamer basket, you can use a colander set over a pot of boiling water. Just make sure that the colander does not touch the water, as this will make the asparagus soggy. - Be careful not to overcook the asparagus. It should be tender but still have a slight crunch. Overcooked asparagus will be mushy and lose its flavor. - To make sure the rice is fluffy and separate, rinse it well before cooking. This will remove the starch from the rice, which can cause it to stick together. - For a more flavorful rice dish, use a flavorful broth instead of water. Vegetable broth, chicken broth, or bone broth are all good options. - To add a pop of color and flavor to the dish, garnish it with fresh herbs such as parsley, cilantro, or basil. You can also add a sprinkle of lemon zest or grated Parmesan cheese. Conclusion:
Asp адапragus basmati rice is a delicious and healthy dish that is perfect for a quick and easy meal. It is a great way to enjoy fresh asparagus and it is also a good source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. With its vibrant green color, this dish is sure to impress your family and friends. So next time you are looking for a side dish that is both tasty and nutritious, give asparagus basmati rice a try!
