My son works for Panera Bread and this is his favorite menu item. This recipe is typical of a California style gourmet sandwich, and represents the Western U.S. region.

Tips:

  • Choose the right bread: A sturdy bread that can hold up to the fillings is best. Some good options include hoagie rolls, sub rolls, or even sourdough bread.
  • Don't skimp on the bacon: Bacon is the star of this sandwich, so use plenty of it. Thick-cut bacon is best, as it will hold up better to cooking.
  • Cook the bacon until it is crispy: This will help to give the sandwich a nice smoky flavor. You can cook the bacon in a skillet, in the oven, or even on a grill.
  • Use a variety of cheeses: A combination of cheeses will give the sandwich a more complex flavor. Some good options include cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, and Swiss cheese.
  • Don't forget the vegetables: Vegetables add a nice crunch and freshness to the sandwich. Some good options include lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
  • Use a flavorful spread: A spread will help to hold the sandwich together and add some extra flavor. Some good options include mayonnaise, mustard, or a horseradish sauce.

Conclusion:

The bacon turkey sub is a classic sandwich that is perfect for a quick and easy lunch or dinner. It is also a great sandwich to take on a picnic or to a tailgate party. With so many different variations, there is sure to be a bacon turkey sub that everyone will enjoy.
