Cooking spray
4 6- to 7-ounce skin-on salmon fillets
1/2 cup low-fat mayonnaise
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh chives, plus more for garnish
Kosher salt and freshly ground white pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375˚. Line a baking sheet with foil and lightly coat with cooking spray. Lay the salmon skin-side down on top. Set aside.
  • Combine the mayonnaise, mustard, honey, chives and a pinch each of salt and white pepper in a medium bowl and stir to thoroughly combine. Remove half of the sauce to a separate bowl and set aside for serving. Season the salmon with salt and white pepper and spoon the remaining sauce over the fish, spreading it evenly all over the top and sides of each fillet.
  • Roast just until the fish is opaque in the center, about 7 minutes. Switch to the broiler setting. Broil the fish until browning in spots, 6 to 8 minutes. (Keep your eye on it to avoid burning.) Garnish with chives and serve with the reserved sauce.

Baklava Salmon (Salmon With Honey, Butter, Walnuts, and Mustard) image

One of my friends deemed this "Baklava Salmon" and the name stuck. The salmon & mustard go well with the honey, butter, and walnuts. We usually serve this with rice and steamed carrots or broccoli.

Tips:

  • Choose the right salmon fillet: Look for a salmon fillet that is about 1 inch thick and has a deep orange-red color. Avoid fillets that are thin or have a pale color.
  • Score the salmon fillet: Scoring the salmon fillet helps the marinade to penetrate the fish and cook it evenly. To score the salmon, make shallow cuts across the top of the fillet, about 1/2 inch apart.
  • Marinate the salmon fillet: Marinating the salmon fillet in a mixture of honey, butter, walnuts, and mustard helps to add flavor and moisture to the fish. Marinate the salmon fillet for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.
  • Cook the salmon fillet: The salmon fillet can be cooked in a variety of ways, including baking, grilling, or pan-frying. Cook the salmon fillet until it is cooked through, but still moist. The internal temperature of the salmon should be 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Serve the salmon fillet: The salmon fillet can be served with a variety of sides, such as rice, vegetables, or salad. It can also be drizzled with a honey-mustard sauce.

Conclusion:

Baklava salmon is a delicious and versatile dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences.
