KIELBASA APPLE KABOBS

Kielbasa Apple Kabobs image

This is a super simple recipe I copied from the Whole Foods Market website. The grilled kielbasa have such a wonderful flavor. You can even use turkey kielbasa to save on calories and fat. I use more apple just because my kids like the way they taste off the grill. It's okay to let the ingredients sit in the lemon juice mixture for a few minutes. I was concerned about that at first, but it does not overpower or alter the flavor of the dish. I also don't use the skewers. I use a grilling basket - it's much faster!! I serve with couscous.

GRILLED KIELBASA KEBABS

Grilled Kielbasa Kebabs image

Found this in a weekender magazine (the type that come in the Sunday paper) and love it! Tweaked it a bit. It's extremely easy to make, and if doubled or tripled, it would be great for an inexpensive addition to a summer party. Plus, it helps to use up summer veggies! I like to serve this with rice and steamed broccoli.

KIELBASA FOR THE BIG GAME

Kielbasa for the Big Game image

This is a great party appetizer that you can make in your slow cooker. I make it every year for the Big Game and it disappears. The ingredients sound like something a child would put together but truly it tastes great. This is an appetizer so it could feed less or more depending on the size of your football fans.

Time 50m

Yield 16 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 3

3 lbs kielbasa
2 (16 ounce) cans apple pie filling
1 dozen maraschino cherry

Steps:

  • Slice your Kielbasa into bite size pieces. I prefer Beef Kielbasa, but other flavors will also work. Be sure it is cold when you slice it so the juices do not run.
  • Lightly coat a 9x14 glass baking dish with unflavored cooking spray.
  • Pour one can of your apple pie filling into your baking dish. Spread it around evenly without crushing the apples.
  • Arrange your Kielbasa pieces in your dish, then pour your remaining can of apple pie filling over them.
  • Cover your baking dish with tinfoil. Insert into your oven and bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.
  • After 20 minutes, turn your Kielbasa slices over, arrange your Maraschino cherries among the apples in your baking dish, re-cover with your tinfoil and continue baking another 20 minutes.
  • Remove from your oven and serve your Kielbasa in your baking dish. Your guests will bombard you with compliments as they gobble up every single piece of juicy Kilebasa. They'll eat all the apples and cherries too.

Tips:

  • For the best results, use high-quality kielbasa and apples. Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make your kebabs taste their best.
  • If you can't find apple cider vinegar, you can use white vinegar instead. Just be sure to dilute it with an equal amount of water.
  • Be careful not to overcook the kielbasa. It should be cooked through but still juicy.
  • Serve the kebabs immediately with your favorite dipping sauce. They're also great for leftovers!

Conclusion:

Barbecued kielbasa and apple kebabs are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. They're perfect for summer cookouts or potlucks. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can enjoy this flavorful dish that's sure to please everyone at your table.
