Tips:

  • Choose the right ham: Select a fully cooked ham with a bone in for the best flavor and texture. A bone-in ham will help the ham stay moist during cooking.
  • Use a good quality glaze: The glaze is what gives the ham its signature sweet and savory flavor. Experiment with different flavors to find one you like, such as a brown sugar glaze, pineapple glaze, or honey glaze.
  • Cook the ham slowly and evenly: Low and slow is the key to cooking a perfect ham. Cook the ham over indirect heat at a temperature between 225°F and 250°F. This will help the ham cook evenly and prevent it from drying out.
  • Baste the ham regularly: Basting the ham with the glaze or cooking juices will help keep it moist and flavorful. Baste the ham every 30 minutes or so during cooking.
  • Let the ham rest before carving: Once the ham is cooked, let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. This will help the juices redistribute throughout the ham, resulting in a more tender and flavorful slice.

Conclusion:

Barbecue ham is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Whether you are serving it as a main course or as part of a buffet, barbecue ham is sure to be a hit. With a little planning and preparation, you can easily make barbecue ham at home that tastes just as good as, if not better than, what you would get at a restaurant.
