1/2 pound sliced baby portobello mushrooms
1 small onion, halved and sliced
1 beef top sirloin steak (1 pound), cubed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons olive oil
1/3 cup dry red wine or beef broth
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup cold water
Hot cooked mashed potatoes

Steps:

  • Place mushrooms and onion in a 3-qt. slow cooker. Sprinkle beef with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat 1 teaspoon oil over medium-high heat; brown meat in batches, adding more oil as needed. Transfer meat to slow cooker., Add wine to skillet, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan. Stir in broth and Worcestershire sauce; pour over meat. 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup (or low-fat)
1 (1 1/4 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
1 (1 ounce) envelope mushroom gravy mix or 1 (1 ounce) envelope beef gravy mix
3/4 cup beef broth (or beef broth mixed with Burgundy wine)
1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced
1/2 medium onion, chopped
12 ounces wide egg noodles

¾ cup all-purpose flour, divided
1 tablespoon dried oregano
salt and ground black pepper to taste
3 pounds cubed beef stew meat
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 cup red wine, divided
29 ounces frozen pearl onions, thawed
2 cups chopped fresh mushrooms
8 medium baby red potatoes
3 large carrots, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
1 (14.5 ounce) can beef broth
1 ½ cups boiling water
4 cubes beef bouillon

Steps:

  • Combine 1/4 cup flour, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Add beef and toss to coat.
  • Heat olive oil in a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat heat. Brown beef in the hot oil on all sides, 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer meat to the bottom of a slow cooker. Do not clean the skillet.
  • Pour 1/2 cup red wine into the skillet and add pearl onions and mushrooms. Saute over medium-high heat until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Be sure to scrape the meat bits into the mixture with a wooden spoon. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

1 can Diet Sprite or 7up

2 lbs cubed lean stewing beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 (1 1/3 ounce) package roasted garlic gravy mix, for steaks
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3 cups water
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons garlic, fresh minced
1 fennel bulb, diced
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
1/4 cup red wine, a good one that you drink
1 (10 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 (8 ounce) can mushrooms, drained
2 bay leaves

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  • Saute the onion and fennel bulb until translucent; then remove and place all in crock pot.
  • Add stew meat, dusted lightly in flour and cook on high heat until meat is browned on all sides (3-5 minutes).
  • Transfer beef tips to crock-pot.
  • Pour water, red wine, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce into the crock pot, over the beef, onions, and fennel.
