Time 4h40m

Yield 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 11

One 6-ounce can tomato paste
1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 tablespoon ground mustard seeds
2 teaspoons granulated garlic
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
3 racks baby back ribs (about 3 pounds)
Oil, for grilling

Steps:

  • Whisk the tomato paste, brown sugar, vinegar, chili powder, mustard, garlic, paprika, Worcestershire, 1 1/2 tablespoons salt and 1 teaspoon pepper in the insert of a 6-quart slow cooker until smooth. Cut each rack of ribs in half and add to the slow cooker. Use your hands to rub the sauce on to the ribs. Cover with a lid and cook on low heat until tender, about 4 hours.
  • Gently transfer the ribs to a baking sheet and cool for at least 20 minutes; this will help maintain the shape of the ribs as they grill. Whisk the sauce at the bottom of the slow cooker until smooth. Reserve 1/4 cup of the sauce to brush on to the ribs and save any remaining sauce to serve on the side (it will thicken as it cools).
  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates. Grill the ribs, top-side down, until lightly charred in parts, 3 to 5 minutes. Flip, brush the top side of the ribs with the reserved barbecue sauce and grill until the underside of the ribs are lightly charred in parts, 3 to 5 minutes. Remove to a platter and serve immediately with the extra barbecue sauce on the side.

ASHLEY'S CROCK POT PORK RIBS

Ashley's Crock Pot Pork Ribs image

After reading a number of different crock pot ribs, I decided to post my version. The combination of soy and worcestershire sauce give the ribs a little something different to taste. Enjoy!

Categories     Pork

Time 8h15m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 -3 lbs pork ribs
1/4 cup soy sauce
3 -4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 -2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
seasoning salt
pepper
garlic powder
onion powder
your favorite barbecue sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • Cut ribs into individual pieces.
  • Mix soy sauce, worcestershire sauce and olive oil together. Pour over ribs and mix to make sure each rib is coated.
  • Season to taste with salt, pepper, garlic and onion powder. Be careful with the salt since soy sauce is naturally salty.
  • Cook in crock pot on low 8-10 hours or high 4-6 hours.
  • Optional: Remove from crock pot (store liquid as stock if you like, otherwise discard) and coat ribs with your favorite sauce. Bake in 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes. I have found the ribs taste great either way.

SLOW COOKER BABY BACK RIBS

Slow Cooker Baby Back Ribs image

These are the best I've had, short of the actual grilling method of course! This is a very simple recipe that I came up with a few years ago. It's not rocket science, just ribs cooked in the slow cooker and finished in the oven. This is what I do when I want ribs during the week and have to work all day. I'm eating them within a half-hour of getting home, and they turn out perfect every time!

THE BEST CROCK POT BARBECUE RIBS

The Best Crock Pot Barbecue Ribs image

The best barbecue ribs I've ever had. The best thing is is it's simplicity-throw this together in 5 minutes in the morning, turn it on, and have it ready for dinner. Probably my favorite recipe of mine- a definite must-try :]

Categories     Pork

Time 6h5m

Yield 16 4-oz servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 lbs bone-in country-style pork ribs
2 teaspoons salt, divided
1 medium onion, chopped
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1 cup apple butter
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon steak sauce
1 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Cut ribs apart, if necessary and trim; sprinkle 1 teaspoon salt evenly over ribs, and set aside.
  • In a medium to large bowl, stir together remaining 1 teaspoon salt, and remaining ingredients until blended.
  • Pour half of mixture into a 5-quart slow cooker. Place ribs in slow cooker and pour remaining mixture over ribs.
  • Cover and cook on HIGH 6 to 7 hours.

Tips for Making the Best Crock Pot Ribs:

  • Choose the right ribs: Baby back ribs are the most popular choice for crock pot ribs, as they are tender and flavorful. You can also use spare ribs, but they will take longer to cook.
  • Trim the ribs: Remove any excess fat or cartilage from the ribs before cooking. This will help the ribs cook evenly and prevent them from becoming tough.
  • Season the ribs: Apply a generous amount of your favorite seasonings to the ribs. You can use a simple salt and pepper rub, or you can get creative with your spices. Some popular options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cumin, and chili powder.
  • Sear the ribs (optional): Searing the ribs before cooking them in the crock pot will help to develop their flavor and create a nice crust. To sear the ribs, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ribs and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are browned.
  • Add liquid to the crock pot: Add enough liquid to the crock pot to cover the ribs halfway. You can use water, broth, or a combination of both. You can also add other ingredients to the liquid, such as vegetables, herbs, or spices.
  • Cook the ribs on low for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours: The cooking time will vary depending on the type of ribs you are using and the desired level of doneness. Check the ribs after the minimum cooking time to see if they are fall-off-the-bone tender. If not, continue cooking for longer.

Conclusion:

Crock pot ribs are an easy and delicious way to enjoy this classic dish. By following these tips, you can make the best crock pot ribs that are fall-off-the-bone tender and bursting with flavor. Serve the ribs with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, coleslaw, or corn on the cob. You can also drizzle the ribs with barbecue sauce or your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
