THE BEST EVER BEEF TENDERLOIN (FILET OF BEEF)

The Best Ever Beef Tenderloin (Filet of Beef) image

My lovely step-mother, Jan, is one of the best cooks I know! This Beef Tenderloin is one of her specialty recipes, and it is absolutely mouth-watering delicious! I love it because it is quite fast and easy to cook (after the marinating time), yet, it is perfect for special occasion meals, because it tastes like you slaved over it. Please note that the prep/cooking time does not include the over-night marinating. Please also note that the marinade will come out as a paste (after cooking it)--this is normal (thickened by the cornstarch), and is meant to be place on the top of the meat, as it cooks like a wonderful crust!

PRIZE WINNING MARINADE FOR BEEF

Prize Winning Marinade for Beef image

I combined my sister-in-law's marinade recipe with my friend's barbecue cooking method. I then submitted this recipe into to a radio station as part of a contest and I ended up winning the grand prize of a Jenairre stove! It's so versatile that it works both with cheap cuts of beef and expensive too. I won't cook beef roast any other way. Enjoy!

Time 3h15m

Yield 4-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup soy sauce
4 -5 garlic cloves, crushed
40 peppercorns, crushed
1 prime rib roast or 1 london broil beef
1 pint sour cream

Steps:

  • Using a food processor, crush peppercorns until fine.
  • Add garlic to processor and crush.
  • Add soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and lemon juice and blend.
  • Pour mixture into giant zip lock freezer bag and add the meat to be marinated (even the cheapest cuts of beef will taste like prime rib!).
  • Seal bag.
  • Refrigerate for 48 hours (turn bag every time you open the fridge door).
  • Reserve the marinade for later use.
  • Barbecue the meat as you would normally however, I prefer to cook the meat very VERY slowly using an indirect cooking method--only ONE side of the barbecue is lit and turned down to low.
  • The meat is placed on the one side of the barbecue which is off, over a pan of water, which sits on the barbecue rocks.
  • Note: Total barbecue time depends on the size of beef roast.
  • Relax while your dinner cooks.
  • Put marinade on the stove and bring to a boil.
  • Add just enough marinade to some sour cream, to make a sauce to drizzle over the cooked meat.
  • Sit back and enjoy the compliments.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cut of beef: For best results, use a tender cut of beef like flank steak, skirt steak, or tenderloin. These cuts will marinate quickly and cook evenly.
  • Use a flavorful marinade: The marinade is what gives the beef its flavor, so make sure to use a flavorful one. There are many different marinade recipes available, so you can find one that suits your taste. Some popular ingredients used in marinades include soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, herbs, and spices.
  • Let the beef marinate for long enough: The longer the beef marinates, the more time it has to absorb the flavors of the marinade. For best results, marinate the beef for at least 30 minutes, but you can also marinate it for longer if you have time.
  • Cook the beef properly: Once the beef is marinated, it's time to cook it. You can cook the beef in a variety of ways, including grilling, roasting, or pan-frying. Cook the beef to your desired doneness, making sure not to overcook it.

Conclusion:

By following these tips, you can make a delicious and flavorful beef marinade that will take your next meal to the next level. Experiment with different marinade recipes and cooking methods to find the perfect combination for your taste. With a little practice, you'll be able to make a marinade that will make your friends and family rave.
