BEST EVER SALSA

Best Ever Salsa image

This recipe is so close to the Salsa served at Pappasitos that you will swear you are there. Every time I serve this people ask for the recipe. Best part is that it is so easy and doesn't require fresh tomatoes so it works all winter.

Time 15m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (28 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 medium sweet onion, chopped
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon salt
2 fresh garlic cloves, chopped
2 -3 jalapeno peppers
1 bunch fresh cilantro

Steps:

  • Put all ingredients into blender and mix or pulse until blended.
  • Do not liquify.
  • Note: Seeds in peppers determine heat so remove if you like mild salsa. I use 2 peppers and seeds from one for medium to hot salsa.

Tips:

  • Use ripe tomatoes: Use the ripest, juiciest tomatoes you can find. If you're using tomatoes from the store, let them ripen on the counter for a few days before using them.
  • Choose the right peppers: The type of peppers you use will determine the heat level of your salsa. For a mild salsa, use green bell peppers. For a medium salsa, use poblano peppers. For a hot salsa, use serrano or habanero peppers.
  • Roast your tomatoes and peppers: Roasting the tomatoes and peppers will give your salsa a smoky, roasted flavor. To roast the tomatoes, place them on a baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil. Roast them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20-30 minutes, or until they are softened and lightly browned. To roast the peppers, place them on a baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil. Roast them at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 15-20 minutes, or until they are softened and lightly charred.
  • Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as cilantro, basil, and oregano, will add a lot of flavor to your salsa. Chop them finely before adding them to the salsa.
  • Don't over-blend: Over-blending your salsa will make it too smooth and thin. Pulse the salsa in a food processor or blender until it reaches your desired consistency.

Conclusion:

Making salsa at home is a great way to use up fresh ingredients and create a delicious condiment that can be used in a variety of dishes. With so many different recipes to choose from, you're sure to find one that you love. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy appetizer or condiment, give one of these salsa recipes a try.
