Tips:

  • Choose the Right Potatoes: For a creamy and fluffy casserole, use russet or Yukon Gold potatoes. These varieties hold their shape well and become tender when cooked.
  • Hash Browns or Shredded Potatoes: You can use either pre-shredded hash browns or shred your potatoes at home. If using pre-shredded hash browns, thaw them before cooking.
  • Don't Overcook the Potatoes: Cook the potatoes until they are tender but still have a slight bite to them. Overcooked potatoes will become mushy and lose their texture.
  • Season Generously: Don't be afraid to add plenty of salt and pepper to the potato mixture. This will enhance the flavor of the casserole.
  • Add Mix-Ins: Feel free to add your favorite mix-ins to the casserole, such as cooked bacon, diced onions, bell peppers, or cheese.
  • Bake Until Golden Brown: Bake the casserole until the top is golden brown and bubbly. This usually takes about 30-40 minutes.
  • Let it Rest Before Serving: Allow the casserole to rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help it hold its shape and make it easier to scoop.

Conclusion:

Beth's Hash Brown Potato Casserole is a delicious and comforting side dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its creamy and fluffy texture, crispy edges, and savory flavor, this casserole is sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a tasty potato dish, give this recipe a try!
