Yield Makes 2 1/2 cups batter

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 large eggs
1 bottle light- or medium-bodied lager (12 ounces), cold
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
Coarse salt
5 cups vegetable oil
2 1/2 to 3 pounds shrimp, firm fish fillets (such as cod), or desired vegetables (such as onions or pepperoncini), cut into pieces if necessary
2 cups buttermilk (if using onions)

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, whisk eggs until smooth, then whisk in beer. Add 1 1/2 cups flour and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and whisk until combined. Place 1 cup flour in a shallow bowl. Place a wire rack on top of a rimmed baking sheet; set near stove.
  • In a wide 6-quart pot fitted with a deep-fat or candy thermometer, heat oil to 375 degrees over medium. (The oil should bubble rapidly when a pinch of flour is added.) Working in small batches, lightly coat food in flour, then dip in batter, gently shaking off excess. Fry, turning halfway through, until browned and crisp, about 5 minutes per batch (adjust heat to maintain 375 degrees). With a slotted spoon, transfer food to rack to drain and discard any browned bits of batter. Season immediately with salt. Keep warm in a 200-degree oven.

BUTTER BEER RECIPE BY TASTY

Butter Beer Recipe by Tasty image

Nothing quenches the thirst of a witch or wizard quite like a cold glass of butter beer. Enjoy this creamy, butterscotch beverage from Three Broomsticks in the comfort of your own home. This content is intended solely for users of legal drinking age. Drink responsibly.

Provided by Aleya Zenieris

Categories     Drinks

Time 50m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

⅓ cup unsalted butter
1 ½ cups dark brown sugar
⅓ cup light corn syrup
⅔ cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
½ teaspoon rum extract
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream
1 oz marshmallow fluff
½ teaspoon rum extract
3 cans cream soda

Steps:

  • Make the butterscotch syrup: In a medium pot fitted with a candy thermometer, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup. Cook over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until the temperature reaches 240°F (115°C). Remove the pot from the heat and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream until well combined, then stir in the salt, apple cider vinegar, rum extract, and vanilla until well incorporated. Transfer to an airtight container and set aside at room temperature until ready to use.
  • Make the whipped topping: Add the heavy cream, marshmallow fluff, 2 tablespoons of butterscotch syrup, and the rum extract to a large liquid measuring cup or medium bowl. Using an immersion blender, whip until soft peaks form, 2-3 minutes.
  • Assemble the butter beer: In a large pitcher, stir together 3 tablespoons butterscotch syrup and ½ cup cream soda until well combined. Stir in the remaining cream soda.
  • Divide the butter beer between glasses and top with the whipped topping and more butterscotch syrup, if desired.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: This will make a big difference in the taste of your Butterbeer. Use real butter, cream, and vanilla extract, and don't skimp on the butterscotch or toffee flavoring.
  • Make sure your butter is very cold: This will help it cream together with the sugar and create a smooth, light texture.
  • Don't overbeat the butter and sugar: You want to beat them just until they are combined and fluffy. Overbeating will make the Butterbeer dense and heavy.
  • Add the cream and vanilla extract slowly: This will help prevent the Butterbeer from curdling.
  • Chill the Butterbeer before serving: This will help it thicken and develop its flavor.
  • Serve the Butterbeer with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg: This will add a touch of sweetness and spice that will take your Butterbeer to the next level.

Conclusion:

Butterbeer is a delicious and magical drink that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you're a fan of Harry Potter or just looking for a sweet and creamy treat, this recipe is sure to please. With just a few simple ingredients, you can make a delicious Butterbeer that will transport you to the world of witchcraft and wizardry.
