Yield 8-12 - varies with the size of servings

Number Of Ingredients 12

12 oz broad egg noodles
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese (1/4 lb)
4 oz cream cheese
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup soft butter
1 cup sour cream
½ cup sugar
½ cup creamed cottage cheese
½ tsp salt
½ cup dried bread crumbs
1/4 tsp cinnamon

Steps:

  • Prepare pasta according to package directions. Drain and rinse well. Return to saucepan. Process cream cheese with eggs in food processor or blender until smooth. Add remaining ingredients except cereal and cinnamon to egg mixture. Process until smooth, once again, (about 20 seconds) and then pour over noodles and mix well. Pour into a well-greased 9 X 13" glass baking dish. Sprinkle with crumbs and cinnamon, mixed. Bake at 350̊F for 1 hour, or until golden. Serve hot with more sour cream.

Tips:

  • Use quality ingredients: Fresh, high-quality ingredients will result in a tastier kugel. Whenever possible, use organic or locally-sourced ingredients.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing the batter can result in a dense, dry kugel. Mix the ingredients just until they are combined.
  • Bake the kugel in a water bath: Baking the kugel in a water bath helps to create a moist, evenly cooked kugel. Place the kugel dish in a larger pan filled with hot water, and bake according to the recipe instructions.
  • Let the kugel cool slightly before serving: This will help the kugel to set and make it easier to slice.
