Time 40m

Yield 15-20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 lb lean ground beef
1 (16 ounce) can refried beans
2/3 cup enchilada sauce
1/4 cup water
3 tablespoons minced onions
1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
15 -20 flour tortillas (7 inch)
1 1/2-2 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef; drain.
  • Add the next 8 ingredients; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Heat 3-4 tortillas in a microwave until warm, about 45 seconds. Spoon 3-4 tablespooms of the beef mixture down the center of each tortilla.
  • Top with 2-3 tablespooms of cheese.
  • Roll up. Wrap each burrito in paper towel; then in foil. Repeat with the remaining ingredients. Refrigerate if using right away. Or freeze.
  • Burritos can be eaten cold. If warming, remove the foil and place in microwave for about a minute. However, if frozen, they will take longer. I suggest warming for 45 seconds to a minute on 50% power to thaw some, and then completing the warming process at a higher power.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Tortilla: Select large, pliable tortillas that won't crack or tear when folded. Corn or whole-wheat tortillas are great choices.
  • Prepare Your Fillings in Advance: Pre-cook meats, chop vegetables, and prepare any sauces or dressings ahead of time to save time when assembling the burritos.
  • Use a Variety of Fillings: Don't be afraid to mix and match different ingredients. Experiment with proteins, vegetables, cheeses, and sauces to create unique flavor combinations.
  • Keep It Simple: Don't overload your burritos with too many fillings. A few well-chosen ingredients will create a more flavorful and cohesive dish.
  • Wrap Your Burritos Tightly: Roll the burritos tightly to prevent them from falling apart. You can also wrap them in parchment paper or aluminum foil for extra security.
  • Get Creative with Sauces: Sauces can add a lot of flavor and moisture to your burritos. Try using different types of salsa, guacamole, sour cream, or yogurt-based sauces.
  • Experiment with Different Cooking Methods: You can grill, pan-fry, or bake your burritos. Each method will give you a slightly different texture and flavor.

Conclusion:

Brown bag burritos are a delicious, portable, and customizable meal that are perfect for busy individuals. With a little planning and creativity, you can create endless variations of burritos that will keep you satisfied and energized throughout the day.
