Categories     dessert

Time 35m

Yield 12 large or 24 regular brownies

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, plus butter for greasing the baking pan (optional)
Nonstick cooking spray (optional)
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1/2 cup unsweetened Dutch processed cocoa powder
2 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher or coarse salt
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
3 large eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Generously butter a 13-by-9-inch baking pan or spray it with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Place the butter and chocolate in a medium-size saucepan over low heat and let melt together, stirring until smooth. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the cocoa powder, sugar, and salt, then blend in the vanilla. Beat in the eggs one at a time, stirring to mix quickly so they don't have a chance to cook at all before they are blended in. Blend in the flour.
  • Scrape the thick batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake until the edges just begin to pull away from the sides of the pan and a wooden skewer or toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean, 25 to 30 minutes.
  • Let the brownies cool in the pan on a wire rack. When completely cool, cut them into 12 or 24 squares.

ONE-BOWL FUDGY BROWNIES AS MADE BY ALEXIS DEBOSCHNEK RECIPE BY TASTY

One-Bowl Fudgy Brownies As Made By Alexis Deboschnek Recipe by Tasty image

Tasty Creator Alexis deBoschnek shares her recipe for one-bowl fudgy brownies from her new cookbook To The Last Bite. They're everything you want in a brownie: ooey, gooey, salty, and sweet. Chocolate lovers, prepare for melt-in-your-mouth magic!

Provided by Betsy Carter

Categories     Desserts

Time 1h15m

Yield 12 brownies

Number Of Ingredients 10

nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
6 oz semisweet chocolate
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1 ½ cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 large eggs
1 pinch kosher salt
1 cup all purpose flour
¾ cup walnuts, roughly chopped
flaky sea salt, for sprinkling

Steps:

  • Arrange a rack in the center of the oven. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray. Line the pan with parchment paper.
  • Place the chocolate in a large microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between, until melted.
  • Add melted butter to the bowl with the chocolate and beat with an electric hand mixer on medium speed until just combined. Add the sugar and beat until combined. Add the vanilla and eggs and beat until incorporated. Add a pinch of kosher salt and the flour and mix on low speed until just combined, making sure not to overmix.
  • Add the walnuts, if using, and fold in with a rubber spatula until just incorporated.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with the spatula.
  • Place the baking pan on the center oven rack. Bake for 25 minutes, until the top is crinkly. These are barely baked, fudgy brownies. Do not use a toothpick to test, as it will come out with batter on it. The brownies will set as they rest.
  • Let the brownies cool for 5 minutes, then sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Continue cooling until the brownies are room temperature, about 30 minutes.
  • Carefully use the parchment paper to lift the brownies from the pan and transfer to a cutting board. Slice into 12 squares.
  • Enjoy!

Tips:

  • Choose high-quality chocolate. Use chocolate with a cocoa content of at least 50% for a rich, chocolatey flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter. Overmixing will result in a tough, dry brownie.
  • Bake the brownie just until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Let the brownie cool completely before cutting into it. This will help to prevent it from falling apart.
  • For a fudgier brownie, use melted butter instead of oil.
  • For a chewier brownie, use eggs instead of an egg replacer.
  • Add your favorite mix-ins, such as nuts, chocolate chips, or sprinkles, to the batter before baking.
  • Top the brownie with ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for an extra special treat.

Conclusion:

With these tips in mind, you can create a delicious, single-serving brownie in just a few minutes. Brownies for one are a great way to satisfy your chocolate cravings without having to make a whole batch. They are also perfect for when you are short on time or ingredients. So next time you have a hankering for chocolate, give one of these recipes a try.
