BUSY DAY CAKE

Busy Day Cake image

I got this recipe from the Fanny Farmer Cookbook - years and years ago. It is the first cake I ever learned to make. I believe the first time I made it I was about 10 years old. I also taught my boys how to make this when they were 8 and 10. It's very easy. Tasty enough, but the frosting is what adds the most flavor. I use the store bought frosting on it. Very simple to make and like the title says - it's great for a dessert on a busy day!

Tips:

  • Choose the right pan: Use a 9x13 inch baking pan for a classic sheet cake or a bundt pan for a more decorative cake.
  • Don't overmix the batter: Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean: This is the best way to ensure that the cake is done baking.
  • Let the cake cool completely before frosting: This will help the frosting to set properly and prevent it from melting.
  • Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days: You can also freeze the cake for up to 2 months.

Conclusion:
