BEST TURKEY MEATLOAF

Best Turkey Meatloaf image

After much trial and error trying to make a more healthy meatloaf, I came up with this recipe. It is important to make this on a baking sheet so the liquids can be drained off the meatloaf. Also, do not put the topping on before the meatloaf has cooked for 30 minutes. Turkey creates a lot of juices, so if you put the topping on first it will become watery and runny.

A meatloaf style turkey burger that's moist and flavorful. My kids love these burgers and don't realize it's a lighter alternative to beef burger. My kids just slap on some mayo and head to town. Great served with lettuce, tomato, and your choice of condiments, with a side of chips or raw crispy veggies.

BUBBY'S TURKEY MEATLOAF WITH RED PEPPER SAUCE

Bubby's Turkey Meatloaf with Red Pepper Sauce image

Provided by Dave Lieberman

Categories     main-dish

Time 2h

Yield 4 to 6 servings

Number Of Ingredients 15

2 pounds ground turkey (preferably dark meat only)
2 eggs
3 ounces tomato paste (1/2 of 1 small can, reserving rest for the sauce)
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, pressed
3 ounces tomato paste (from reserved 1/2 can)
1 small onion, roughly chopped
1 clove garlic, peeled
1 small red pepper, seeded, cored, and roughly chopped
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
15 grinds black pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together all the ingredients for the meatloaf and work together completely by hand until all ingredients are evenly distributed and the mixture is uniform. Place meat mixture into a 9 by 13-inch baking dish and shape into a loaf about 11 inches long and 4 inches wide. It is important to form it like this so that it cooks evenly throughout. The loaf should be in the middle of the pan with room on both sides for the sauce to pool.
  • Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth. Cover the meatloaf with the sauce and allow excess sauce to pool around the meatloaf. Cover pan with aluminum foil but avoid contact with meat loaf by leaving at least a couple inches of space between the top of the meatloaf and the foil. Bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake 45 minutes longer. Let rest for 15 minutes before cutting and serving.

EASY SPICY TURKEY & BEEF MEATLOAF

Easy Spicy Turkey & Beef Meatloaf image

I love real home-style meatloaf, but have been trying to cut down on beef and have been disappointed with pure turkey meatloafs - this one I invented and it is GOOD!!

Time 1h10m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

1/2-3/4 lean ground beef
1/2-1 cup Italian breadcrumbs

1 -1 1/2 cup salsa
1/4 cup catsup (or more - if you like catsup - or you could add more salsa and save the salt)

  • Roast at 350 for around 1 to 1 1/2 hr- ENJOY!

Nutrition Facts : Calories 228.8, Fat 10, SaturatedFat 2.7, Cholesterol 89.8, Sodium 653, Carbohydrate 12.1, Fiber 1.2, Sugar 4.2, Protein 22.1

Tips:

  • For the best flavor, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. If possible, use organic turkey meat, fresh vegetables, and herbs.
  • Don't overmix the meatloaf mixture. Overmixing can make the meatloaf tough.
  • To prevent the meatloaf from drying out, add some moisture to the mixture. This can be done by adding eggs, milk, or broth.
  • Line the loaf pan with parchment paper before adding the meatloaf mixture. This will make it easier to remove the meatloaf from the pan.
  • Bake the meatloaf at a low temperature for a longer period of time. This will help to prevent the meatloaf from drying out.
  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. This will help the juices to redistribute throughout the meatloaf.

Conclusion:

Butter Busters Turkey Meatloaf is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand. The meatloaf is moist and flavorful, and the glaze gives it a sweet and tangy crust. Serve the meatloaf with mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a salad.
