  • *Refrigerating overnight will give you an especially custardy consistancy.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place baking dish on a rimmed baking sheet;remove plastic wrap.
  • Bake until puffed and set in the center( a paring knife inserted in the center will come out clean) for about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  • Tent loosely with foil if strata starts to brown too quickly.
  • Let stand 10 minutes before cutting and serving.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality bread. A good strata starts with good bread. Look for a bread that is sturdy enough to hold up to the custard mixture, but not so dense that it becomes soggy. A French baguette or sourdough bread works well.
  • Don't overmix the custard mixture. Overmixing the custard mixture can make it tough. Simply whisk the eggs, milk, and seasonings together until they are well combined.
  • Layer the strata evenly. Be sure to evenly layer the bread, cheese, and filling ingredients in the baking dish. This will help to ensure that the strata cooks evenly.
  • Bake the strata until it is golden brown and puffed. The strata is done baking when it is golden brown on top and puffed up in the center. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.

Conclusion:

Canadian bacon strata is a delicious and versatile dish that is perfect for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own preferences. With a few simple tips, you can make a strata that is sure to impress your family and friends.
