2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored Jell-O®
1 cup ground pecans
1 cup flaked coconut
¾ cup sweetened condensed milk
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (2.25 ounce) jar red decorator sugar
5 drops green food coloring
¼ cup sliced almonds

Steps:

  • Combine gelatin, pecans, and coconut. Stir in milk and vanilla; mix well. Chill one hour.
  • Shape into strawberries. Roll in red sugar; tint sliced almonds with green food coloring and insert in top of "berries" to form leaves.

Here is another tasty treat that I helped my mom make around Christmas time growing up. When I make them now people look at them and don't get it. Then they take a bite and get it. They are really good and have great texture! I borrowed this picture but will post my own when I make them again soon!

6 oz package of strawberry jello
1 c ground pecans
1 c ground coconut
3/4 c condensed milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
3/4 c sugar (divided)
red and green food coloring

Steps:

  • 1. Mix together jello powder, pecans, coconut, condensed milk and vanilla.
  • 2. Shape into strawberries. Use damp hands, this can get sticky! Place in a large dish and chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
  • 3. Divide the sugar up and mix red coloring in one bowl and green in another. Mix together with a fork.
  • 4. Roll the strawberries in the red sugar first then dip the top in the green. Makes about 48 depending on how big you make them.

1-1/2 cups finely chopped walnuts
1-1/2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
3 packages (3 ounces each) strawberry gelatin
1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup water
6 to 8 drops green food coloring
3/4 cup slivered almonds
1/3 cup each red and green decorator's sugar

  • In a bowl, combine walnuts, coconut and gelatin. Stir in milk and vanilla; mix well. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour. Meanwhile, combine water and green food coloring; add almonds.
