4 Tbsp dark soy sauce
1 Tbsp sesame oil
4 clove garlic minced
1 Tbsp ginger grated
2 Tbsp shaoxing
2 tsp garlic chili sauce
1 Tbsp rice vinegar
1/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c crushed cashews
2 green onions chopped

Steps:

  • 1. Place the hoisin sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, shaoxing wine, chili garlic sauce, rice vinegar, and brown sugar. Add in 6 tbsp water. Bring to a boil and simmer about 1 minute. Remove from heat.

  • 3. Serve sprinkled with green onions and cashews.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken wings: Use fresh, plump chicken wings with evenly distributed fat. Avoid wings that are bruised or have an off odor.
  • Marinate the chicken wings: Marinating the chicken wings in a flavorful mixture of soy sauce, rice wine, ginger, garlic, and five-spice powder infuses them with delicious taste.
  • Fry the chicken wings in hot oil: Frying the chicken wings in hot oil helps to create a crispy outer layer while keeping the inside tender and juicy.
  • Drain the chicken wings on paper towels: Draining the chicken wings on paper towels removes excess oil, resulting in a crispy texture.
  • Serve the chicken wings with your favorite dipping sauce: Cantonese chicken wings are traditionally served with a sweet and sour dipping sauce, but you can also use your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Cantonese chicken wings are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. By following these tips, you can create perfectly crispy, flavorful chicken wings that will be a hit at your next party or gathering.
