I adapted this recipe years ago from an old microwave cookbook. My children were young then and loved it. It is still one of their most requested recipes for family get togethers. The amounts can be adjusted to suit your taste. If you have a nice microwave safe dish, this makes a beautiful presentation straight to the table.

Tips:

  • Choose the right cauliflower: For the best results, select a head of cauliflower that is compact and has tightly packed florets. Avoid heads with brown or yellow spots, as these are signs of age or decay.
  • Cut the cauliflower into even florets: This will help to ensure that they cook evenly in the microwave. Cut the cauliflower into florets that are about 1-2 inches in size.
  • Add some seasonings: To add flavor to the cauliflower, sprinkle it with salt, pepper, and other seasonings of your choice. You can also add herbs, such as parsley or thyme, for extra flavor.
  • Use a microwave-safe bowl: When cooking the cauliflower in the microwave, be sure to use a bowl that is microwave-safe. This will help to prevent the bowl from melting or cracking.
  • Cook the cauliflower in short increments: To avoid overcooking the cauliflower, cook it in short increments of 1-2 minutes at a time. This will help to ensure that the cauliflower is cooked through without becoming mushy.
  • Stir the cauliflower halfway through cooking: Stirring the cauliflower halfway through cooking will help to ensure that it cooks evenly. This is especially important if you are cooking a large amount of cauliflower.
  • Top the cauliflower with cheese: Once the cauliflower is cooked, top it with cheese and microwave it for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. This will add a delicious cheesy flavor to the cauliflower.

Conclusion:

Cheesy cauliflower in the microwave is a quick and easy side dish that is perfect for busy weeknights. It is also a healthy and delicious way to get your daily dose of vegetables. With its simple ingredients and easy-to-follow instructions, this recipe is sure to become a family favorite.
