4 tablespoons ground flaxmeal
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/2 cup honey
3 tablespoons orange juice
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees. Brush an 8-by-8-inch pan with oil and line with parchment paper.
  • Combine oats, cherries, dates, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl. In another bowl, combine almond butter, flaxmeal, applesauce, honey, orange juice, and vanilla and stir to combine. 1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder

6 Tbsp water
1/2 cup white sugar

Steps:

  • Prepare the cherry filling in advance as it needs to cool. Place cherry filling ingredients in medium sauce pan and stir well. Turn the heat to medium and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, for 8-10 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. If you want the filling to be smoother and less chunky, use a hand blender to slightly break the cherries into smaller pieces.
  • Preheat the oven to 350F.
  • Line a 9 x 12 inch baking pan with parchment paper and set aside.
