Provided by Christy Faber

Categories     Dessert

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 package black cherry jello (or wild cherry or plain cherry )
1 cup boiling water
1 15 oz can Bing cherries (using all the juice and half of the cherries )
2 oz cream cheese
1/4 cup raw pecans (roughly chopped )

Steps:

  • Drain the can of cherries, reserving the juice into a measuring cup. Add cold water to the juice to make a total of 1 ¼ cups liquid and place in the fridge to chill.
  • Dissolve Jello in 1 cup of boiling water in an attractive serving bowl. Stir until totally dissolved and there are no visual Jello granules remaining.
  • Stir the cold cherry juice/water combination into the warm Jello thoroughly.

Tips:

  • Use fresh cherries: Fresh cherries provide the best flavor and texture to the salad. If you can't find fresh cherries, you can use frozen cherries that have been thawed and drained.
  • Pit the cherries: Be sure to pit the cherries before adding them to the salad. You can use a cherry pitter or a sharp knife to remove the pits.
  • Toast the pecans: Toasting the pecans enhances their flavor and makes them more crunchy. You can toast the pecans in a skillet over medium heat or in a toaster oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5-7 minutes, or until they are fragrant.
  • Use a good quality cherry gelatin: The quality of the cherry gelatin can make a big difference in the flavor of the salad. Look for a gelatin that is made with real cherry juice and has a good cherry flavor.
  • Chill the salad thoroughly: The salad needs to be chilled for at least 4 hours, or overnight, before serving. This allows the gelatin to set and the flavors to meld together.

Conclusion:

Cherry pecan jello salad is a classic dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make, delicious, and refreshing. With its sweet and tart cherry flavor, crunchy pecans, and creamy jello, this salad is sure to be a hit with everyone. So next time you are looking for a delicious and easy dessert, give cherry pecan jello salad a try.
