Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 tsp vegetable oil
2 tsp cilantro, fresh, chopped
2/3 c basamati rice, white
1 c water
1/2 tsp salt
1 lime

Steps:

  • 1. In a 2-quart heavy saucepan, heat oil over low heat, stirring occasionally until melted. Add rice and lime juice, stir for 1 minute. Add water and salt, bring to a full rolling boil. At boiling, cover, turn down to simmer over low heat until rice is tender and the water is absorbed, about 25 minutes. Fluff rice with a fork.

Tips:

  • To make the perfect basmati rice, use a ratio of 1 cup of rice to 1 1/2 cups of water. This will ensure that the rice is cooked evenly and is not too mushy or too dry.
  • Rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking. This will remove any starch from the rice, which can make it sticky and gummy.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot to cook the rice. This will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the rice from burning.
  • Bring the water to a boil before adding the rice. This will help to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for 18 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time.
  • After 18 minutes, remove the pot from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5 minutes. This will allow the rice to finish cooking.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving. This will help to separate the grains of rice and make it light and fluffy.

Conclusion:

Cilantro lime basmati rice is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is flavorful, fluffy, and has a beautiful green color. This recipe is a great way to use up leftover rice, and it can also be made with brown rice for a healthier option.

Whether you are serving it with grilled chicken, fish, or shrimp, or simply enjoying it on its own, cilantro lime basmati rice is sure to be a hit.
