Time 40m

Yield 2 to 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 pounds chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon butcher's grind cracked black pepper
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon Hungarian paprika
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Pinch of celery seeds

Steps:

  • For the wings: Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and brush the foil with the oil.
  • Pat the wings dry with paper towels, then sprinkle with the baking powder and toss to evenly coat in a large mixing bowl. Spread the wings evenly on the prepared baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, crispy and cooked through, 25 to 30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • For the dry rub: Combine the brown sugar, salt, black pepper, granulated sugar, paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, cayenne and celery seeds in a small bowl.
  • Remove the wings from the oven and add to another large mixing bowl. Season well with some of the rub, and then toss to coat. (Reserve the remaining rub for another use.) Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use a large mixing bowl to coat the chicken wings in the cornstarch mixture. This will ensure that all of the wings are evenly coated.
  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the chicken wings. The oil should be shimmering and about 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying the chicken wings. This will cause the oil temperature to drop and the wings will not cook evenly.
  • Fry the chicken wings in batches for about 8-10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Drain the chicken wings on a paper towel-lined plate to remove any excess oil.
  • Serve the chicken wings immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Costco's crispy chicken wings are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or main course. With just a few simple ingredients, you can create these wings at home that are just as good as the ones from Costco. So next time you're looking for a quick and tasty meal, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
