SPARKLING WHITE CRANBERRY SANGRIA RECIPE - (4.5/5)

Sparkling White Cranberry Sangria Recipe - (4.5/5) image

Provided by á-174535

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/4 cup sugar
1 cup rum, like Selvarey or another high-quality white rum
1 cup diced red apple
1 cup diced green apple
1 cup fresh or frozen cranberries
1 bottle Chardonnay, un-oaked or lightly oaked, chilled
1 cup white cranberry juice, chilled
2 cups club soda, chilled
Lemon twist for garnish

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher, combine the sugar and rum and stir to dissolve. Add the apples, cranberries, Chardonnay, and white cranberry juice. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight. When ready to serve, add the club soda and stir to combine. Pour into ice filled glasses and scoop in some of the fruit. Top each glass with a lemon twist. Recipe Notes: I used frozen cranberries but you can also use fresh. If you use fresh, your sangria will be more pink tinted, as the berries bleed their color into the juice. Using an oak-aged Chardonnay will give the sangria more buttery flavors. I prefer un-oaked for a cleaner, lighter, more refreshing sangria. You can also serve this sangria immediately, but the flavors won't have had as much time to mingle and mellow.

I made this up for a Thanksgiving Potluck last year. It was such a hit, I had to make a second bowl!

Provided by EmmyDuckie

Categories     Punch Beverage

Time 5m

Yield 6-10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 4

2 pints cranberry juice (100% juice is best)
2 pints orange juice
1 (750 ml) bottle red wine (I like Beaujolais, but any light fruity red wine will do.)
1 -2 orange, sliced (for garnish)

Steps:

  • Chill all ingredients.
  • Pour juices and wine into punch bowl.
  • Float orange slices on top.
  • Variations: You may adjust the proportions of juice to wine, depending on the strength and flavor profile of your particular wine.
  • This is also good with limes and lemons.
  • Ice cubes made of frozen juice are a nice addition, or you can freeze the citrus slices and use them to keep sangria cold.
  • This can be halved, doubled, tripled, etc. easily for any size group.

Tips:

  • Chill your sangria: Sangria is best served chilled. If you're making it ahead of time, be sure to chill it for at least 2 hours before serving.
  • Use fresh cranberries: Fresh cranberries add a tart and festive flavor to sangria. If you can't find fresh cranberries, you can use frozen cranberries instead.
  • Choose a good quality white wine: The type of white wine you use will affect the flavor of your sangria. Choose a wine that you enjoy drinking on its own.
  • Add a variety of fruit: In addition to cranberries, you can add other fruits to your sangria, such as oranges, lemons, limes, and apples.
  • Sweeten to taste: Sangria can be made with or without added sugar. If you like your sangria sweet, add sugar or honey to taste.
  • Serve sangria with ice: Sangria is best served with ice. This will help to keep it cold and refreshing.
