CAULIFLOWER WITH HERBED CRUMB TOPPING

Cauliflower With Herbed Crumb Topping image

From a magazine but no idea which one. Recipe states: In this recipe, cauliflower florets are cooked in boiling water, then covered with flavored crumbs and finished in the oven. If the cauliflower has just been removed from the water and is still hot, 10 minutes in the oven and a few minutes under the broiler are sufficient. If, however, the cauliflower has been cooked ahead and then allowed to cool before the next step, increase the baking time to about 20 minutes before finishing the dish under the broiler.

OVEN BAKED CRUSTY HERBED CAULIFLOWER

Oven Baked Crusty Herbed Cauliflower image

Just found this cauliflower recipe that has been in my recipe collection for years. You steam the cauliflower, bread it, and then bake it. Change the seasonings to taste. Nice change from deep fried. Great side dish for dinner, or serve as an appetizer with a dip (bottled Creamy Ranch salad dressing is good).

Tips:

  • Choose the right cauliflower: For the best results, choose a head of cauliflower that is firm and white, with no blemishes or bruises.
  • Cook the cauliflower properly: To prevent the cauliflower from becoming mushy, cook it until it is tender but still has a bit of a bite.
  • Make sure the sauce is thick enough: The sauce should be thick enough to coat the cauliflower without being too runny. If the sauce is too thin, add a little more cornstarch or flour.
  • Don't overcook the crumb topping: The crumb topping should be golden brown and crispy, but not overcooked. Watch it closely to prevent it from burning.
  • Serve the creamed cauliflower immediately: This dish is best served hot, so make sure to serve it as soon as it is ready.

Conclusion:

Creamed cauliflower is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and delicious to eat. The creamy sauce and crispy crumb topping make it a perfect dish for a weeknight meal or a special occasion.
