Time 1h

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/2 cup short-grain rice (arborio is best)
4 cups homogenized milk
1/3 cup white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup sultana raisin
1 teaspoon vanilla
cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large, heavy saucepan, combine rice, milk, sugar and salt. Bring just to a boil, stirring often.
  • Reduce heat to very low, add raisins, cover and simmer very gently, stirring occasionally, for about 50 minutes or until rice is very tender and pudding is thickened and creamy (it will thicken more as it cools).
  • Stir in vanilla.
  • Remove from heat and let stand, uncovered until just warm, stirring occasionally (pudding may also be served cold).
  • Transfer to dessert dishes and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. The better the ingredients, the better the rice pudding will be. Use whole milk, heavy cream, and high-quality rice.
  • Cook the rice pudding slowly and gently. This will help prevent the rice from becoming overcooked and mushy.
  • Stir the rice pudding frequently. This will help prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pot and burning.
  • Flavor the rice pudding to your liking. You can add vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, or other spices to taste.
  • Serve the rice pudding warm or cold. It is delicious either way.

Conclusion:

Rice pudding is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and loved by people of all ages. With a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a creamy and delicious rice pudding that will warm your heart and soul. So next time you are looking for a sweet and satisfying dessert, give this creamy rice pudding recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
