Categories     Easy Side Dishes

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

DREAMSICLE JELLO SALAD

This recipe has been a big hit at family gatherings and potlucks for years! It could also be used as a light dessert. I have also used French Vanilla pudding mix. It makes a large amount so make sure to use a very large mixing bowl.

Time 10m

Yield 10-12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 (3 ounce) packages instant vanilla pudding
1 (3 ounce) package orange Jell-O
1 1/2 cups boiling water
1 (22 ounce) can mandarin oranges (with juice)
1 (16 ounce) container Cool Whip

Steps:

  • Combine the pudding, Jello and boiling water and dissolve completely.
  • Add the Mandarin Oranges (with juice).
  • Fold in the Cool Whip.

Tips:

  • For a sweeter salad, use a sweeter variety of oranges, such as Navel or Mandarin oranges. For a tarter salad, use a tarter variety of oranges, such as Seville or Sour oranges.
  • If you don't have vanilla pudding mix, you can make your own by mixing 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of cornstarch, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt in a saucepan. Slowly whisk in 2 cups of milk until the mixture is smooth. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture has thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • To make the salad ahead of time, mix all of the ingredients except for the whipped topping and nuts. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Before serving, top with whipped topping and nuts.
  • For a more colorful salad, add some fresh berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries.

Conclusion:

Creamsicle salad is a classic summer dessert that is easy to make and always a hit. It is perfect for potlucks, picnics, and barbecues. With its sweet and tangy flavor, creamy texture, and refreshing orange taste, creamsicle salad is a surefire crowd-pleaser.
