THE BEST SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE

The Best Sweet Potato Casserole image

We opted for a nutty crumb topping over marshmallows to create a pleasantly crunchy contrast to the creamy and soft mashed sweet potatoes. The filling gets a pumpkin pie-like treatment, with brown sugar and vanilla for a deep caramel flavor and butter and eggs for richness. This recipe is bound to become a holiday staple.

Tips:

- For a smoother casserole, blend the sweet potatoes and milk mixture until completely smooth before adding the other ingredients. - If you don't have a food processor or blender, you can mash the sweet potatoes by hand. Just make sure to mash them until they are very smooth. - Be careful not to overbeat the egg whites. If you overbeat them, they will become stiff and dry. - If you don't have evaporated milk, you can use regular milk instead. Just add 1/4 cup more sugar to the recipe. - If you want a crunchy topping, you can sprinkle some chopped pecans or walnuts on top of the casserole before baking.

Conclusion:

This creamy sweet potato casserole is a delicious and easy side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It is smooth, creamy, and has a slightly sweet flavor that is sure to please everyone at your table. The pecan topping adds a nice crunch and texture to the casserole. This recipe is also very versatile. You can add different spices, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, or ginger, to taste. You can also use different types of nuts in the topping, such as walnuts or almonds. No matter how you make it, this creamy sweet potato casserole is sure to be a hit!
