This simple to make recipe came from Pillsbury Annual Recipes 2008. It includes some of my favorites - cashews and of course....chocolate (both white and semisweet)! Bars like these that contain sweetened condensed milk can be stored at room temperature. I just made these bars this morning and have not actually tried them yet. but they look great & smell wonderful! Please let me know what you think...

1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup cashew halves and pieces

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees F (350 degrees F for dark pans). High Altitude (3500-6500 ft): No change.
  • Grease bottom and sides of 13x9-inch pan.
  • If using crescent rolls: Unroll dough into 2 long rectangles. If using dough sheet: Unroll dough.
  • Place in pan; press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust. Bake 5 minutes.
  • Remove partially baked crust from oven. Sprinkle vanilla chips, chocolate chips, almonds and cashews evenly over crust. Pour condensed milk evenly over top.

Tips:

  • Use a sharp knife to cut the crescent rolls into even pieces. This will help them bake evenly.
  • If you don't have a rolling pin, you can use a wine bottle or even a glass to roll out the dough.
  • Don't over-bake the crescent rolls. They should be golden brown, but not too dark.
  • Let the crescent rolls cool completely before frosting them. This will help the frosting set properly.
  • If you want to make the crescent rolls ahead of time, you can freeze them after they have been baked and cooled. Just thaw them overnight in the refrigerator before frosting.

Conclusion:

Crescent layer bars are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that is perfect for any occasion. They are made with just a few simple ingredients and can be customized to your liking. Whether you like them plain or topped with frosting, fruit, or nuts, crescent layer bars are sure to be a hit.
