A terrific tasting and simple crock pot recipe that can also be prepared in the oven. There's something about the onions that brings this recipe to life. Be sure to well grease the crock pot to avoid sticky clean up.

Tips:

  • Choose the right pork chops: For this recipe, bone-in pork chops are recommended as they tend to stay more moist and flavorful during the cooking process.
  • Prepare the pork chops: Before cooking, pat the pork chops dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Season them generously with salt, pepper, and any other desired spices or herbs.
  • Brown the pork chops: Sear the pork chops in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for about 2-3 minutes per side. This step adds flavor and helps to seal in the juices.
  • Make the sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, and garlic powder. You can adjust the amounts of each ingredient to suit your taste preferences.
  • Slow cook the pork chops: Place the browned pork chops in a slow cooker. Pour the sauce over the pork chops and add the rice. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • Serve and enjoy: Once the pork chops and rice are cooked through, serve them immediately. You can garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, or any other desired toppings.
