Curry bread is a popular Japanese bread that is known for its unique flavor and texture. It is made with a combination of curry powder, flour, sugar, yeast, butter, and milk. The curry powder gives the bread a slightly spicy and savory flavor, while the butter and milk make it rich and fluffy. Curry bread can be made in a breadmaker or by hand. It is often served as a snack or breakfast item, and can also be used in sandwiches or other dishes. If you are looking for a delicious and easy-to-make bread recipe, curry bread is a great option.

BASIC BREAD MACHINE BREAD (A B M)
This is a very reliable standard bread machine recipe for a 1 lb loaf. Too many people I know have bread machines but don't use them because they don't know how to do anything but use a mix! This will make a nice soft loaf as is, and it's also a great jumping off point for experimentation. Try varying the types of flour, fat, and sugar. Or try adding things like spices, nuts, mustards, or cheeses. My goal with this recipe is to get people comfortable enough with baking in their bread machines that they'll experiment. (If your machine only makes a 2 lb loaf, simply double all the ingredients.)

BASIC WHITE BREAD 1 1/2 LB LOAF
Great small loaf of light airy white bread. Great for sandwiches, toast, etc. Let your bread machine do the hard work but bake in a bread pan in your oven for a better looking loaf. I use a 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" pan because I like it to rise high above the pan but you can use a 5" x 9" pan if you prefer a loaf that isn't as tall. Steps:
- 1. Place the water into the bread machine pan.
- 2. Add sugar and oil to water and stir to dissolve sugar. Add yeast to the water and stir to dissolve.
- 3. Allow the yeast to foam for 10 minutes.
- 4. Mix together flour and salt and add to bread machine pan.
- 5. Select the dough cycle and press start and allow to complete full cycle including first rise.
- 6. Always check your dough mid way through the kneading cycle and adjust with either water or flour for proper consistency. The dough will sometimes have to be adjusted due to humidity, temperature, and variations in flour.
- 7. Spray an 8 ½" x 4 ½" bread pan with cooking spray.
- When dough cycle is complete transfer dough to lightly floured surface and gently deflate.
- Knead 6 or 8 times, turning 90 degrees each time.
- Shape the dough into an 8" log.
- Place the log in a lightly greased 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" loaf pan, cover the pan loosely with parchment paper or lightly greased plastic wrap, and allow the bread to rise for 45 to 60 minutes or until ripe. Dough is ready to bake when your index finger pressed into the dough up to first joint leaves a mark that rebounds slowly. It will rise pretty high using a 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" pan. Towards the end of the rise, preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Brush with half the melted butter. Bake the bread for 30 to 35 minutes, until it's light golden brown. Test it for doneness by removing it from the pan and thumping it on the bottom (it should sound hollow), or by measuring its interior temperature with a digital thermometer (it should register 190°F at the center of the loaf).
- Remove the bread from the oven. Brush with remaining melted butter. Remove from pan and cool it on a rack before slicing. Store the bread in a plastic bag at room temperature for several days; freeze for longer storage.

Tips:
- Properly Measure Ingredients: Use a kitchen scale to accurately measure ingredients, especially for gluten-free recipes, as they are more sensitive to ingredient ratios.
- Fresh Ingredients: Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best results. Fresh yeast, for example, is essential for a successful rise.
- Proof the Yeast: Proofing the yeast ensures that it is active and ready to use. This step is crucial for a successful rise.
- Knead the Dough Properly: Kneading the dough develops the gluten, which gives the bread its structure and texture. Knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Let the Dough Rise in a Warm Place: The ideal temperature for rising dough is between 75-85°F (24-29°C). A warm, draft-free environment helps the dough rise properly.
- Bake at the Proper Temperature: Follow the recipe's recommended baking temperature and duration. A properly baked loaf will have a golden-brown crust and a fully cooked interior.
- Let the Bread Cool Completely: Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing and serving. This helps the bread set properly and develop its full flavor.
Conclusion:
Experimenting with different recipes and techniques is encouraged. Remember, practice makes perfect. With time and patience, you'll be able to create delicious homemade bread using your breadmaker. Don't be afraid to try new ingredients and combinations to create unique and flavorful loaves. Always read the recipe thoroughly before starting and ensure you have all the necessary ingredients and equipment. Happy baking!
