1 cup warm 2% milk (110° to 115°)

1/2 cup plus 6 tablespoons butter, softened, divided
1-1/2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
2 large eggs, room temperature
5-1/2 to 6 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add the milk, 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup butter, lemon zest, salt, mace, eggs and 2 cups flour; beat well. 6 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar

1-1/2 cups sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and 1/2 teaspoon sugar in 1/4 cup water; let stand for 5 minutes.
