Provided by Christy Faber

Categories     Dessert

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 package black cherry jello (or wild cherry or plain cherry )
1 cup boiling water
1 15 oz can Bing cherries (using all the juice and half of the cherries )
2 oz cream cheese
1/4 cup raw pecans (roughly chopped )

Steps:

  • Drain the can of cherries, reserving the juice into a measuring cup. Add cold water to the juice to make a total of 1 ¼ cups liquid and place in the fridge to chill.
  • Dissolve Jello in 1 cup of boiling water in an attractive serving bowl. Stir until totally dissolved and there are no visual Jello granules remaining.
  • Stir the cold cherry juice/water combination into the warm Jello thoroughly.
  • Refrigerate until partially set. In the meantime, check if the cherries are pitted. Cut the cherries in half if you prefer smaller bites of cherry. (I use half of the cherries but all of the juice in the can). Cut the cream cheese into small cubes.
  • Roughly chop the pecans and measure out ¼ cup. Add cherries, cream cheese and roughly chopped pecans to partially set Jello. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

DARK CHERRY COLA SALAD WITH CREAM CHEESE AND PECANS

Dark Cherry Cola Salad with Cream Cheese and Pecans image

I have been making this since I was in highschool! It is a wonderful jello salad that family and friends request often! A lovely addition to any holiday table!

Provided by Kelly Williams @WildfloursCottageKitchen

Categories     Fruit Salads

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 (3 oz.) - box dark cherry jello (black cherry)
1 cup - hot water
16 oz. - cola
3/4 tsp. - lemon juice
4 oz. - cream cheese, very cold, cut into tiny cubes
1/2 cup - chopped pecans or walnuts
1 - (8 3/4 oz.) can dark sweet cherries, drained, cut in half (*save juice for another use such as adding it to your glass of iced tea)

Steps:

  • Dissolve jello in hot water. Cool. Add cola and refrigerate til gelatin is slightly thickened. Stir in cherries, nuts and cream cheese. Pour into jello mold and chill til completely set.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, plump, and ripe dark cherries for the best flavor.
  • If you don't have time to pit the cherries, you can buy them pre-pitted or use a cherry pitter to remove the pits.
  • Be sure to drain the cherries well before adding them to the salad, otherwise the salad will be too watery.
  • Use a good quality cream cheese for the best results. Avoid using whipped cream cheese or cream cheese spread, as they will not hold their shape well in the salad.
  • If you don't have any pecans, you can substitute another type of nut, such as walnuts or almonds.
  • Serve the salad immediately after making it, or store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Conclusion:

Dark cherry cola salad is a delicious and refreshing salad that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own personal taste. Whether you like it sweet, tart, or somewhere in between, this salad is sure to please everyone. So next time you are looking for a new salad to try, give dark cherry cola salad a try. You won't be disappointed!
