Yield 8

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 pounds ground beef
¾ cup rolled oats
6 tablespoons chopped sweet onion (such as a Walla Walla)
1 cup milk
1 ½ teaspoons salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 ½ cups ketchup
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons white sugar
4 ½ tablespoons chopped sweet onion (such as a Walla Walla)
4 ½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
¾ cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Mix together the ground beef, rolled oats, 6 tablespoons of sweet onion, milk, salt, and black pepper until thoroughly combined. Roll the mixture into 2-inch meatballs, and place meatballs into the prepared baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, 4 1/2 tablespoons of sweet onion, apple cider vinegar, and water until the sugar has dissolved, and pour the sauce evenly over the meatballs.
  • Bake the meatballs and sauce in the preheated oven until the sauce is bubbling and thickened and the meatballs are no longer pink inside, about 1 1/2 hours. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a meatball should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).

Provided by Carrie P.

Categories     Meat

Time 3h5m

Yield 6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 (1 lb) bag pre-made meatballs
1 1/2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Put meatballs in crock pot.
  • In a medium sized bowl mix together all remaining ingredients.
  • Microwave on high for approximately 3 minutes or until boiling.
  • Pour over meatballs in crock pot.
  • Cook on low for 3 hours, stirring every half hour.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Meatballs: Use high-quality meatballs made with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Avoid frozen or pre-cooked meatballs, as they tend to be bland and dry.
  • Brown the Meatballs: Before adding the meatballs to the sauce, brown them in a pan with a little oil until they are golden brown on all sides. This will help to seal in the juices and give them a richer flavor.
  • Simmer the Meatballs: Once the meatballs are browned, add them to the sauce and simmer them for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the flavors of the sauce to penetrate the meatballs and make them more tender.
  • Use a Variety of Sauces: There are many different types of sauces that can be used with meatballs. Some popular options include tomato sauce, marinara sauce, Alfredo sauce, and barbecue sauce. Choose a sauce that complements the flavor of the meatballs.
  • Garnish the Meatballs: Before serving, garnish the meatballs with fresh herbs, such as parsley or basil. This will add a pop of color and flavor to the dish.

Conclusion:

Meatballs are a versatile dish that can be served as an appetizer, main course, or side dish. They are also a great way to use up leftover meat. By following these tips, you can make delicious meatballs that everyone will enjoy. Whether you prefer a classic tomato sauce or a creamy Alfredo sauce, there is a meatball sauce recipe out there to suit your taste.
