The dish has been on the menu since the first restaurant opened in 1982, and it has become so popular over the years that Olive Garden started selling the dressing in grocery stores in 2017. The secret to re-creating the texture at home: a few spoonfuls of Miracle Whip.

Tips for Making the Best House Salad

  • Use Fresh, High-Quality Ingredients: The key to a great house salad is using fresh, high-quality ingredients. This means using crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, flavorful cucumbers, and thinly sliced onions. You can also add other vegetables to your salad, such as bell peppers, carrots, or celery.
  • Choose a Good Dressing: The dressing is what really brings a house salad together. There are many different types of dressings to choose from, so you can find one that suits your taste. Some popular options include vinaigrette, ranch, and Caesar dressing.
  • Don't Overdress Your Salad: When dressing your salad, it's important to not overdo it. Too much dressing can weigh down the salad and make it soggy. A light drizzle of dressing is all you need to enhance the flavor of the salad without overpowering it.
  • Add Some Crunch: Adding some crunch to your house salad is a great way to make it more interesting and enjoyable. You can add crunch by using croutons, nuts, or seeds. You can also add some crispy bacon or fried onions.
  • Serve Your Salad Immediately: Once you've dressed your salad, it's important to serve it immediately. This will prevent the salad from getting soggy. If you're making the salad ahead of time, you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours before serving.

Conclusion

A house salad is a classic dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's easy to make, delicious, and healthy. By following these tips, you can make the best house salad that will impress your family and friends.
