This is the way my MIL makes her hash brown casserole. It is certainly similar to most but I have found that it is hands down the absolute best. She always warned me not to stray from the specified ingredients and I must confess that I did and I hate to admit, she was right. This recipe is a favorite of both mine and dh's family gatherings.

Tips:

  • Use fresh ingredients whenever possible. This will result in the best flavor and texture for your casserole.
  • Shred the potatoes yourself. This will give you a more even texture than if you use pre-shredded potatoes.
  • Use a variety of cheeses. This will add depth of flavor to your casserole.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment with different seasonings. You can add things like garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika to taste.
  • Cook the casserole until it is golden brown and bubbly. This will ensure that it is cooked through.

Conclusion:

Cracker Barrel Hash Brown Casserole is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish. It is perfect for a crowd and can be made ahead of time.
